We Made It! Plus New BB Pics (26 Weeks)

Well, we survived another holiday season and made it through the end of 2010 none-the-worse for another year gone by.  Had a whirlwind few days between Christmas Eve Day and the day after Christmas involving (in no particular order) more presents, candlelight service, four movies, lots of eating, two instances of Ren getting sick in the car, and ordering a crib (the baby's first Christmas present from Gramma!)  We spent all of the above time with some or all of my parents and Grandmother, and lots of fun was had by all.  Next year should be a slightly more normal Christmas, at least in the sense that everything will be observed on it's correct day since everyone should be here.  Oh, and Ren took the news that you you-know-who wasn't bringing her presents on Christmas morning like it was absolutely no big deal, and as far as I know it has not come up wit her cousins yet, so hopefully we have nothing to worry about.

In baby-related news:  We had our most recent pre-natal visit on Tuesday and everything is apparently perfect.  Denine was a little shocked when they told her they wanted to see her in two weeks the next time instead of four, I think it hadn't really occurred to her that she's that far along.  Now that we're officially in the third trimester, I'm starting to have the feeling of "oh crap, there's still too much to do!"  We moved Ren into Jamie's bedroom right after Christmas, so her room is now officially the nursery.  However, it's still not completely cleaned out and still needs to be painted, not to mention any decorating that's too be done.  I keep telling myself that we've realistically still got at least eight-to-ten weeks to get everything done, but that doesn't seem like nearly as long as it used to.  At least we have a crib now (well, Mom has it, but I know where it's at), the mattress should be on it's way, and it doesn't take me that long to slap a coat of paint on a room.

Oh, and I still need to get someone to look at the bathroom.  At least we now have a coupon for $500 off with ReBath (woot!)

 And the growth continues.

I love the look on people's faces when they see Denine now and say, "You look about ready to pop!  When are you due?" and she tells them she's only 27 weeks; the shock and horror at the fact that she still has 13 weeks of growth left until full term is almost palpable.  She has a picture out of her at the last baby shower she had for Ren, she had pulled it out to show somebody exactly how big she gets when she's pregnant.  It's quite impressive, actually, though it does make sharing a queen-size bed with her somewhat challenging toward the end.

Lastly, the name change is official now: his new name is Asher Armstrong Lee.  This all came about because my mother mentioned that she kind of wished that she had gone ahead with naming my brother or myself after her uncle, John Armstrong Church, and suggested that we might consider using Armstrong as a middle name.  I had already mentioned to Denine using Asher as a future name should the need arise, since it was one of the few other names of a Hebrew tribe (after Judah) that I would consider unusual enough to name a child, but not completely out there.  So I asked what she thought of changing the name to Asher Armstrong, and after a great deal of internal debate she decided that she preferred it.  On a sad note, Uncle John passed away this Sunday (the day after Denine had made the decision), so we never got the chance to tell him, but I trust that I will someday.  He was a great man, and will be sorely missed.
